Trust & safety
How we keep bookings
safe and honest.
Hora is new, so we'd rather show you exactly how it works than ask you to take our word for it. This is what happens, and what we do and don't do.
For guests
A booking is a request until it's confirmed
When you book, you send a request. Hora confirms it with the hotel and tells you the outcome. You can follow its status (requested, confirmed, declined or cancelled) in your account. Don't count on a space until it says confirmed.
You pay the hotel, on arrival
During the pilot, Hora takes no payment and never asks for card details. You pay the hotel directly when you arrive. If anyone asks you to pay Hora by card, bank transfer or payment link, it isn't us. Tell us.
The hotel is named once you're confirmed
You see the area and the space first. The hotel's name is shared when your booking is confirmed.
Cancel from your account
You can cancel a requested or confirmed booking from your account, up to the day of the booking. Please do it as early as you can, so the hotel can offer the hours to someone else.
Prices are indicative during the pilot
The price shown is the price for the hours listed, and the total on the booking form is an estimate. The hotel confirms the final amount, which you pay on arrival.
For hotels
You decide what is sold
You choose the space, the hours, the price, the capacity and the house rules. You can pause a space at any time from your dashboard. Your own guests always come first.
You confirm every booking
A request is not final until it is confirmed. You can confirm or decline from your dashboard, so nobody turns up at your door unannounced.
We review your space before it goes live
Every space is checked by us before it appears on the site. A hotel account cannot approve its own listing. That rule is enforced in the database, not only on the page.
Commission only on bookings that arrive
There is no fixed fee. We take a commission on bookings that go ahead, and we agree it with you before your first booking.
Clean records
Each booking carries a date, start hour, duration, number of guests and a status. They are simple to reconcile and post to your own systems.
Safeguards built into the product
- Limits against abuse. A booking must fall inside the space's opening hours, within its capacity and no more than 90 days ahead. One email address can make at most five booking requests per hour.
- Access control in the database. Every table uses row-level security, so the database itself decides who can read or change what, not just the website.
- No double booking of calls. Meeting slots are locked as they're booked, so two people cannot take the same slot.
- We never see your password. It is hashed by the sign-in provider. We can't read it, and we will never ask for it.
- Encrypted connections. The site is served over HTTPS.
- Examples are labelled. A space that is only a demonstration is marked Example so you can tell it from a real partner space.
When something goes wrong
If a hotel can't honour a confirmed booking, or a space isn't as described, tell us at dannjeru555@gmail.com and we'll take it up with the hotel. If a guest breaks a hotel's house rules, the hotel can decline or cancel, and we'll follow up with the guest. See the terms for the detail.
